We need to have conversations about the future of policing, but it can't include the same players (pandering police chiefs, etc.).
Our nation is facing increasing crime and novel threats, and from where I sit, we need warriors more than we need social workers. Not saying the community outreach component isn't important (it's essential for building trust and preventing crime); but fighting crime, enforcing laws, and protecting our civil liberties should take precedence. Even Plato understand that. : )
