Qualified immunity for cops only produces more bad cops than there would be otherwise.

For the most part, there would be no cops otherwise. Qualified immunity is the legal principle for officers to do their jobs honorably. Qualified immunity has not and will not indemnify officers doing their jobs not in good faith.

Due to the practice of recruiting from the human race, there will be bad and corrupt cops, in fact there will be heartbreaking tragedies related to police intervention. Qualified immunity does not ever change that logical fallacy. It is a 'fleas cause dogs' backward reasoning.

I disagree.

Qualified immunity protects officers from frivolous lawsuits provided their actions are LAWFUL. Without it, they and their agencies could potentially be opened up to financial ruin.

One of the reasons for the nationwide staffing shortage and lowered morale are the threats (and in some cases, successes) of limiting or eradicating qualified immunity.

If anything, threats of being subjected to frivolous lawsuits DETERS otherwise good applicants from pursuing policing as a profession.
