You are 100% correct regarding hiring bonuses and the other nonsense. I wanted to make a parody response but I was concerned that many would think I was serious. Great work and thank you for never disappointing.

Excellent comments Paula. I supervise a part-time academy in Illinois and you are right on the mark regarding the lowering of standards. We are seeing more and more recruits who are substandard and obviously do NOT have the "calling" to be a police officer. My son (fourth generation police) is seeing it in his peer group also (he's been on the job five years). I wish I had your optimism that things will turn around, but unless something dramatically changes I don't see it happening. Too many people don't have the intestinal fortitude to stand up and speak up. When I've opened my mouth some of my own family or friends ask me to be quiet because they don't want a confrontation. Maybe I'm an idiot, but I say "bring it on". Keep doing what you are doing! Those of us that either are active police officers or retired greatly appreciate your support. Stay safe! Dale

What I've been hearing anecdotally aligns with your and your son's experiences.

Although I maintain hope, I also know the situation is critical. It will take years (at least) to reverse all the damage that's been done. The alternative is to do nothing, and that's not a winning option, IMO. Now that IWN / IWF have partnered with me on this issue, we stand a better chance.

You're not an idiot or wrong to stand up! I get why people are afraid, but we definitely do need more people willing to speak out. The thing is, making a difference doesn't need to be confrontational.

Thanks so much for your support and for what you do. Please stay safe. : )
