Our Movement IS Growing Stronger
Plus a new action center page and updates to help keep you informed
One of my top priorities has been to grow strategic partnerships with others who care about police officers and public safety. It’s easier to advance the interests of law enforcement (including getting key legislation passed) when you have a strong network in place.
It’s why I’m excited about a meeting I had this past week with Melissa Robey, founder of We Back Blue, who I met through a mutual friend from Independent Women’s Network. This woman’s work on behalf of police officers will blow you away!
It’s these types of alliances that will help us grow this movement into a strong, resounding collective for police officers, one that our elected officials and decision makers will be hard-pressed to ignore.
We already have collaborative plans in the works, so stay tuned. : )
NEW! Legislation & Action Center
Given all the time I spend discussing lobbying and legislation, I thought it would be helpful to create a centralized place to keep pertinent information.
Can you please do me a favor and check out my new Legislation and Action Center? You can always find it on the top menu.
Though most of what’s on this page is currently focused on the Protect & Serve Act (H.R. 743), I’ve also added information about other key police and public safety bills.
I created this page to help you be better prepared when you lobby your legislators and speak with others about these important bills. It’s a work in progress and will be regularly updated. Everything on this page can be shared with others. : )
Rogue Prosecutors
The proliferation of district attorneys who refuse to prosecute violent offenders has contributed to our public safety collision course.
If you’re interested in this dysfunctional aspect of our criminal justice system, the Follow the Money map from Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund (LELDF) is a must-see. While on that page, you can also download their report, Justice for Sale, which explains the mechanics of how these prosecutors are able to be elected.
From LELDF:
“Over the past decade, billionaire George Soros has spent at least $50 million* to elect scores of “social justice” prosecutors across the country. These district attorneys, who represent over 70 million people or more than 1 in 5 Americans, often pursue pro-criminal and anti-police policies. This report tracks Soros Prosecutors’ funding, affiliations, and actions.”
This is why it’s critical that Holding Prosecutors Accountable (H.R. 6999), a congressional bill introduced last month, is passed. Please urge your congressperson to co-sponsor this bill.
You can read my presser about this bill for National Police Association here.
Legislative Updates!
Several bills gained new co-sponsors this past week. Please take a moment to thank these members of Congress.
Protect & Serve Act (H.R. 743) gained 3 new co-sponsors: Reps. Jim Costa (CA-21), Gregory Murphy (NC-3), and Aaron Bean (FL-4).
The bill now has 100 co-sponsors! This happened because YOU are calling and writing to members of Congress. Thank you!! Please keep those calls and letters flowing!Safe & Open Streets Act (H.R. 6926 / S. 3492) gained a new co-sponsor in the House with Rep. Clay Higgins (LA-3).
Holding Prosecutors Accountable Act (H.R. 6999) gained Rep. Jefferson Van Drew (NJ-2) as a new co-sponsor.
News Stories You May Have Missed
An Elected Official Who Gets It
Chicago Alder Raymond Lopez and five of his colleagues on the City Council spent time this past week participating in simulated police training exercises. Note that Chicago’s government is comprised of 50 alders. Where are the rest???
Alder Lopez is spot on when he says,
“Every elected official should go through this training BEFORE contemplating new laws that sound great on paper - until reality arrives!”
How can you dictate policy when you don’t understand the mechanics of what it is you’re trying to change?
As a Chicago native born and bred, this city will always be close to my heart. It desperately needs more leaders like Alder Lopez.
A Literal Attack on the U.S. Constitution
Activists recently took it upon themselves to pour a red, powdery substance on the U.S. Constitution permanently installed at the National Archives in Washington, DC. Thank goodness this document -along with the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights- is encased.
It’s of course, troubling that citizens have such blatant disrespect for one of our nation’s most sacred documents. What I’d like to know (and I say this as an ardent police supporter) is why it took so long for the agitators to get arrested. Hmmm . . .
Police are Not the Enemy
Officers in South Bend, Indiana recently saved the life of an innocent pup whose snout had been zip-tied. This is but one example of the good works our officers perform on a regular basis, and they do it without fanfare or acknowledgement.
Police are not the problem.
As always, let me know what you’re thinking. : )
Best.
For the Blue is a solutions-based initiative. I’m just an American patriot asking questions. I don’t work with any political party and I answer to nobody. For me, the health of the nation, due process (including for police officers), the rule of law, and respect for individual liberties, will always transcend party affiliation. I welcome your thoughts, even if you disagree; though personal attacks will be ignored. You can reach me at fortheblue@substack.com.
Thank you so much, Paula! Keep it up!
Great work!
