While I hope that the majority of these provisions pass, the MPDC needs the autonomy in making its own policy apart from the D.C. Council.
Completely agree! While several of the proposals in this bill can be beneficial, they don't get to the core of the problem. Until police officers can be assured that their government and their command staff back them, I can't see much changing.
Still, it's a step up from other cities, including Chicago. Did you get a chance to read Mayor Brandon Johnson's "People’s Plan for Community Safety"? More of the same.
