NEW RESOURCE: Misleading Crime Statistics Cheat Sheet; Plus Some Good News to Share
It may not seem like it, but we ARE making strides
Apologies for the series of news alerts in recent days. While it’s not my intention to clutter your in-box, there are some positive news bites I thought you might like to know about. And I figure we can all use some good news amidst the persistent gloom.
First, I have a new resource to share.
The misleading crime statistics report I recently published generated a lot of views and some productive dialog. (Thank you for that). Given the interest for this topic -and because everyone learns differently- I thought it would be beneficial to create different types of deliverables based on this content.
This second deliverable is in the form of a cheat sheet. Please feel free to download and share it.
Some Great News!
New Jersey Pro-Police Bill is Moving Through
Shout out to New Jersey residents who attended yesterday’s hearing, emailed, or called your representatives in support of New Jersey Assembly Bill A3278, which would upgrade the penalties for assaulting a law enforcement officer.
Your efforts paid off!
The bill was released from Committee and is now on to the next phase. Note that this is a bipartisan bill and that it passed unanimously. I’ll keep you posted.
Women Are Showing Up for Cops
Members from the Independent Women’s Phoenix chapter appeared at a recent city council meeting alongside Our America to speak out against a proposed federal consent decree for the Phoenix PD.
To understand how federal consent decrees can be harmful to local police agencies and may even result in higher crime, check out these vetted resources.
- (Courageous Police Leadership) has penned several pieces on this topic, including this one.
- (American Peace Officer) also has helpful insights. One of them is here.
Yesterday, a couple of us from Independent Woman did a pre-record with the founder of another organization that’s making a huge difference for public safety. This person is someone you’ve likely seen on the news; and he has a solid network, which is important if we’re to change our current path. More news to follow on this front. : )
To my knowledge, Independent Woman is the only major women’s organization that is even addressing policing and public safety. I’m extremely proud to be affiliated with these amazing women.
Parting Thoughts
You know as well as I do that we’re not in a good place. If you look beyond the negativity that has grasped our nation, however, there are dedicated, caring people working overtime to change our current trajectory. You don’t know about them because they often do their work behind-the-scenes and without fanfare, much like our police officers do.
After having an opportunity to chat and work with some of these dedicated human beings and see their work, I feel more hopeful than ever. Though it may not always be easy to do, I ask that you also keep the faith. : )
For the Blue is a solutions-based initiative. I’m just an American patriot asking questions. I don’t work with any political party and I answer to nobody. For me, the health of the nation, due process (including for police officers), the rule of law, and respect for individual liberties, will always transcend party affiliation. I welcome your thoughts, even if you disagree; though personal attacks will be ignored. You can reach me at fortheblue@substack.com.
